Iowa State University Raises $436,193 for United Way of Story County

United Way of Story County (UWSC) announces another successful campaign, in large part due to its partnership with Iowa State University (ISU). UWSC, who is a leader in the Story County community for building countywide partnerships that develop, support and evaluate effective human services in the areas of education, income and health, raised a record-breaking $2,165,524 in its 2016 campaign season. Of that total, ISU contributed an impressive $436,193.

The campaign, which launched in September, included many fundraising efforts on campus, including individual contributions and special events among students, faculty and staff. A check was presented to UWSC at Tuesday night’s men’s basketball game against Mississippi Valley State.

“ISU is a solutions-oriented university, which makes United Way such a great organization to partner with,” said Sarah Rajala, Dean of the College of Engineering and 2016 ISU Campaign Chair for UWSC. “United Way is at the forefront of the human services needs in Story County and works directly with agencies to evaluate programs and ensure they are effective. This level of commitment is special because it improves the quality of life for individuals receiving the program support and it gives the donor peace of mind knowing their contribution is making a positive impact.”

This is the second consecutive year that ISU has raised over $400,000 and the 11th consecutive year it has surpassed its fundraising goal for the organization.
