As Education Initiatives Coordinator, Fish will be the primary contact and lead for Story County Reads as connected with the national Campaign for Grade-Level Reading. Fish will work with a network of partners including nonprofit organizations, businesses, the public sector, school districts, families, and youth to ensure the Story County Reads coalition moves forward in supporting Story County youth towards achieving education related goals.

“We are thrilled to have Andy as the education initiatives coordinator at United Way.” commented Jean Kresse, president and CEO at UWSC. “Andy’s experience as a middle school educator will serve us well as we continue to support literacy through Story County Reads.  He is well organized, systems-minded, and exemplifies great communication skills.”

Fish has worked as a history and English teacher for the past six years, both in the states as well as abroad. He led student engagement initiatives, advised student projects, and founded new and inclusive educational activities. Prior to becoming a teacher, Fish spent two summers as an AmeriCorps member at United Way of Story County. Fish was program coordinator for UWSC’s summer enrichment program in Nevada.
