Having enough to eat is one of the most basic needs—and an important part of building collective well-being in our community.
When people have reliable access to good food, they can focus on learning, working, and building a better future. Food insecurity creates stress and limits opportunities, which affects everyone.
United Way of Story County works with local pantries, meal programs, food drives, and volunteers to make sure no one has to choose between paying bills and putting meals on the table. While we don’t have a pantry onsite, we partner with organizations across Story County to make food security a priority for our whole community.
While it’s a season of fun and relaxation, it can also bring extra stress for families who rely on school breakfasts and lunches to keep their kids fed and healthy. Free summer meal programs have returned to Story County providing nutritious food at no cost to children and teens.
When we come together for our annual food drive, we prove what’s possible when we choose to take care of one another. Thanks to the businesses that host collections, the neighbors who donate, and the volunteers who power the effort, we are building a stronger community for everyone.
