True community transformation starts at the local level when neighbors stand up for one another. At United Way, we know that securing a future of Bright Futures, Financial Empowerment, and Collective Well-Being requires a team effort.
There are so many meaningful ways to be a champion for your community. From hands-on service projects and neighborhood food drives to simply spreading the word about vital local resources, every action helps close gaps and open doors. Our county thrives when everyday residents bring their energy to the table. See below for simple, powerful ways you can get involved and drive positive change today.
When we come together for our annual food drive, we prove what’s possible when we choose to take care of one another. Thanks to the businesses that host collections, the neighbors who donate, and the volunteers who power the effort, we are building a stronger community for everyone.
Day of Caring is more than just a volunteer event; it is a celebration of compassion and collective action. When you join us, you are doing more than giving your time—you are helping forge the meaningful connections and social momentum needed to drive us toward our 2030 Community Impact goals!
Looking to connect your team to meaningful volunteer experiences? United Way of Story County can help! We work with local nonprofits to match your group with on-site volunteer projects or bring the opportunity to you through coordinated kit builds—either at your office or ours.
The Board Leadership Training (BLT) program—a joint initiative of United Way of Story County and the Story County Community Foundation—is designed to help community members build the skills needed to step into future nonprofit board roles. Our next cohort will open in 2027.
